We offer a range of crowns and bridges to both Private and NHS patients at Gunning Dental.
Crowns
Dental crowns, sometimes known as caps, are fixed prosthetic restorations, cemented onto existing teeth or implants to cover damaged or heavily filled teeth.
Crowns are used to restore broken teeth, protect weak ones and improve appearance, fitting on top of existing teeth to protect what’s underneath.
Gold and metal alloys are also available – these are generally stronger than porcelain and are typically recommended for back teeth.
Bridges
A bridge may be recommended to patients who are missing one or more teeth to protect the remaining teeth – bridges quite literally span the space where the teeth are missing.
Just like with crowns, you have a choice of materials for bridges. Your dentist will help you decide which to use, based on the location of the missing tooth (or teeth), its function, aesthetic considerations and cost.
Porcelain or ceramic bridges can be matched to the colour of your natural teeth.
