Like most dental practices, COVID completely disrupted our recall system.

During that period, dentistry moved into fire-fighting mode. Routine care paused, appointments were prioritised for pain and urgent problems, and many patients were understandably seen only when something needed fixed rather than for regular examinations.

Around three years ago, we tried to re-introduce an automated recall system. In reality, this simply wasn’t possible at the time. Thousands of patients had been seen with problems during the COVID period, but thousands more were also overdue routine examinations. Managing that volume safely meant recalls had to be handled manually or booked only when patients contacted us directly.

More recently, we’ve started tentatively re-introducing automated recall messages. However, the response has been lower than expected. For some time, we’ve suspected the reason may be simple:
over the last 3–5 years many patients may have changed mobile numbers, email addresses, home addresses, or life circumstances.

We also know that some patients who were registered with us while living at home have since grown up, moved out, and understandably forgotten to update their details.

To help us get things back on track, we’re asking patients to check and update their contact details using the short form below.

It’s a painstaking task for our team, but we’ll be working carefully through the responses to make sure our records are accurate and up to date. This will help us contact you reliably about appointments, recalls, and important information going forward.
